Jan 9, 2009 - Does the g10 still have the mode where if you have it focus on one color that it will bring out that color and everything else will be black and white? Its a common feature in all the other canons, and I was thinking of getting this one and thats my faveorite feature and if it doesn't have it I dont know if im going to want it.
cameralabs Says:
Jan 9, 2009 - Yes it does - please check out my G10 review at cameralabs . com for full details.

Jan 9, 2009 - I'm not quite sure why everyone is worked up about the whole HD movie/capture thing. If I wanted a camcorder, I would buy a camcorder.

Jan 9, 2009 - Nice video. Shot a quick video of the G10 myself with 580EX II and ST-E2 shown on the Canon PowerShot G10.

Jan 9, 2009 - what you guys recomend me the g10 or the sx10is?is zoom better than megapixels?i like the retractile screen odf the sfx10 but the lack of raw also is important?i am a point and shoot user but the price is almost the same.please i need your expertise guys.thankz
cameralabs Says:
Jan 9, 2009 - It really depends which features are most important to you. If you want the 20x zoom and flip-out screen, then the SX10 IS is a better choice, but as you said, if you prefer RAW and the style of the G10, then maybe it would be better - only you know which features are more important to you personally! But feel free to discuss your options further in the cameralabs forum...

Jan 9, 2009 - Gordon, you should sell some of the photos you take, especialy w/ wide angle, all the mountains and water is beautyful!

Jan 9, 2009 - g10 or fz28?from better photos
cameralabs Says:
Jan 9, 2009 - It depends what you're looking for - zoom range or the most pixels in the image. Take a look at the results and gallery pages on the G10 and FZ28 reviews at cameralabs . com to see which you prefer. There's also examples of their zoom ranges on the features pages.
cyb3r031 Says:
Jan 9, 2009 - Can you see the results on the display when changing the aperture in Av mode, without taking the photo? If you want blurred background, for example, and change the aperture, are going to see that on the display? Sorry for the dumb question :|
cameralabs Says:
Jan 9, 2009 - That's not a dumb question at all! What you're asking for is called a depth-of-field preview, but sadly the G10 and most other compacts as far as I know don't offer it. But then with most compacts, the depth of field is already large even with small f-numbers, so the out-of-focus effect is hard to achieve - see the gallery in the G10 review at cameralabs . com...

Jan 9, 2009 - Do you film these reviews from your own home or at an office? Either way, I noticed you have a beautiful view. Great compact as well. Cannon has some really nice compacts. I only have the Powershot A590IS, but still the quality is unbelievable. No HD with the G10 is upsetting though. A lot of newer compacts are getting at least 720p video recording.
cameralabs Says:
Jan 9, 2009 - Thanks, they're filmed around the Queenstown New Zealand area...

Jan 9, 2009 - Thanks Gordon, you did a great job explaining the G 10. Am going to Italy soon and want a camera that will take some nice photos, I just hope I can remember all that when I want to take that quick photo of a live time Thanks.
Arseheat Says:
Jan 9, 2009 - Are these really good?should I buy one?

xmeda Says:
Jan 9, 2009 - Nice cam on paper, but for it's price customer can get DSLR like Pentax K-m which is still small in terms of size (especially with DA21 or DA40mm pancake lens = pocker camera), but image quality is simply different level :)
